My LJ is primarily to do with being a middle age rope lover, and how that relates socially to others who are interested in the activity. The love of rope bondage is enormously misunderstood. Here is what it means to me. This is why I do it with and for friends. To me, in most cases (there are of course exceptions), bondage is an act of being tied up or restrained for sexual gratification. Just enjoying the sensation quietly is another choice which I completely respect. Whatever the outcome, rope bondage is a popular sexual fantasy. A misconception about rope bondage is that you have to have a sadistic quality to you. Bondage is a give and take exchange. Bondage is a very giving thing, and does not require pain and/or sinister aspects. Bondage to me is about sensuality, connection and communication. It's the bottom who has control. Six categories of bondage are: Pull parts together Spread parts apart Tie the body down to another object Suspend the body from another object Restrict normal movement Wrap the whole body or a part of it The top should have some understanding of human anatomy and practice in bondage art. I promote all tops to play the role of the bottom as well, so they can properly understand what the bottom is feeling and when, because, the feelings of a bottom must be taken into consideration at all times.
